Can you offer a secure and loving home to a cat who needs one?
Adopt a cat from us…
We’ll match you with a cat who will be happy with your lifestyle and home environment.
01
Get in touch
First read the FAQs below and get in touch if you have any other questions. If you’re happy to go ahead, complete our adoption enquiry form and one of our volunteers will be in touch once we find you a match, to arrange step 2.
02
Give us a tour
One of our volunteers will do a home visit to meet you and confirm that you have a suitable home environment to adopt the cat (or cats) that we’ve matched you with. We can do this in person or virtually by video call if you have a smartphone. We’ll also ask you to read and sign our Adoption Agreement and donate an adoption fee.
03
Get ready
Make sure you have all the essentials required to look after the cat (or cats) you want to adopt. This includes a carrier box, bed, litter tray and litter, food and food bowls, toys and a scratching post. We also recommend a pheromone plug in. There may be a few more preperation steps if you have other pets but we can advise on this if needed.
04
Take in a cat(s)
Once you’ve cofirmed that you’re ready to adopt, we’ll arrange the logistics of getting the cat (or cats) to you through our network of volunteers. Every situation is unique so we’ll make you aware if the cat has any special requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
We gathered the answers to some popular questions below. If you can’t find your question here feel free to contact us, and we’ll be happy to help.
Is there a cost to adopting?
We ask for a donation of at least £80 to adopt but we appreciate it if you are able to donate more and also opt-in to Gift Aid. Your donation will go toward the cost of a full health check and any treatments for the cat you’re adopting. This includes neutering and microchipping, which actually costs us up to £120 per cat.
What happens if I don’t bond with the cat or it doesn’t settle?
Cats can sometimes take a while to settle into a new environment. We recommend you give it one month to six weeks before you consider that it’s not working. If you’re still unsure, give us a call and we’ll do everything we can to help, including taking the cat back if necessary.
What do you take into account with a home visit?
Your location and surroundings. For example, if you’re rural, living in a town or city, if you have access to outside space, and if you’re close to any main roads. If you own precious items you don’t want to risk any damage. Any other pets that would need introducing to a new cat. Any children who may need help to understand how to care for a cat.
I have other pets, can I adopt?
Owning other pets doesn’t rule you out from adopting a cat from us, but we’ll need to make sure that we find you a cat that is used to living with other animals. They will then need to be gradually introduced in a controlled environment. We can advise on how to do this.
What will my adopted cat need?
Every cat needs a bed, a litter tray with litter, food bowls with food, fresh water, some toys, and a scratching post. It’s not a rule but we also recommend you buy a pheromone plug-in to help your cat settle in. You can buy these from Feliway or Amazon.
How much does it cost to own a cat?
The cost of owning a cat depends on the choices you make and the health of the cat. To estimate what it will cost you, you should take into account that you’ll need to pay for food and litter, accessories like beds and litter trays, pet insurance and veterinary costs.
